Model: TL-MR100
Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version: 1.4.0 0.9.1

Hi,

It seems the IPv6 is not correctly functioning in the TL-MR100. The outgoing connections are fine, ping to WAN IPv6 address is fine, but ping6 from an outside to a internal client in LAN with IPv6 address is not working. From the browser inside the client (a Linux PC) if I see the what is my IPv6 address, it is correctly showing IPv6 address assigned in the LAN.

Note that the same client (a Linux PC) if I connect via my android mobile with the same SIM card used in the TL-MR100 and do mobile tethering via USB, those IPv6 address are publicly reachable.

All the operators are moving towards IPv6 and the IPv4 is CGNAT so it is useless for any service forwarding. The IPv6 service access is somehow blocked by TL-MR100, kindly help, without this the purpose of this router for me is nothing.

Regards,

Vasanth

@vasanths

Hi, Thank you very much for all your feedback.

The issues that ping IPV6 from an outside to an internal client in LAN with IPv6 address is not working might be related to the IPV6 firewall on TL-MR100 which is enabled by default. Currently, here Is a firmware that is able to fix this issue:

TL-MR100-v1-20220120

How to update the firmware

Then you could turn off or customize IPV6 firewall rules under Advanced>Security>IPV6 firewall.

Please @TP-Link  and let me know whether it is working or not.

Thank you very much.

@vasanths I have exact same problem. Prefix delegation is not working as well in either RADVD or DHCPv6 server so I used a static site prefix. But its still not connecting the ipv6 with the internet. If you know about some budget friendly router that fully support ipv6 then please let me know. Many thanks

Also if you don't mind telling, which operator sim are you using?

Check out my question about same here

@Namann1 Yeah, I think I have to look for some other brand. Still routers are developed without proper IPv6 support, not good.

@panko I am using Reliance Jio, but I think no other operator is also assigning public IPv4 address but thats to my knowledge.

@TP-Link Yes, with the given beta firmware I am able to access IPv6 address from other networks. Its working.

As a customer appreciate everyone worked on this to get this working in a short period. However make please sure managment router is prevented from public IPv6 address if firewall is disabled (I havent tested but its better to see that aspect also when releasing the firmware).
