Disable NAT on Tl-WR1042nd

I am currently trying to include this router in my existing home setup. It is currently connected via its WAN port to a LAN port on another router. Let us call the old router "Master" and the new one "Slave". The master router is set to use the 192.168.1.1 address while the slave one uses 192.168.0.1 for its own subnet and the static ip address that it's been assigned is 192.168.1.2. Both netmasks are /24.
A static route has been added on the Master router, so all 192.168.1.0.X traffic is routed via 192.168.1.2 (slave router). Slave router, ie WR1042ND has been configured to allow remote administration and any computer under the 192.168.0.X and 192.168.1.X subnets can access its web interface.
However, I can not get devices under the 192.168.1.X subnet to access the 192.168.0.X subnet, except for the slave router itself. This is apparently because of how the slave router handles incoming traffic, ie NAT. I have disabled the built in firewall but it made no difference and there is no "Disable NAT" option.
I would like to disable NAT in order to allow a 192.168.1.X device to start a connection to a 192.168.0.X one without making use of network workarounds, like NAT, exposing the actual ip addresses under the slave router.
How would I go about doing this? The web interface does not seem to provide such function and according to this faq on TP LINK only a few models support it.
