I have just bought a Archer D2 AC750 modem/router, and can connect to the internet from windows, mac and android devices ok. (This appears to be the right forum, but cannot see the model name in the drop down box. Hope this is ok).

I cannot get my Dell printer to connect using an Ethernet cable. The printer and cable are ok as I have just tried with my old netgear router. I am not a computer specialist, so this might all be nonsence. I have tried to reserve a static IP address in the DHCP Server settings and in the network settings (only WAN appears to offer the chance to add a device). Rather than post loads of information, can anybody start me off? Many thanks.

The printer cannot obtain IP address automatically as the windows, mac etc.?
If so, why not change IP settings on the printer directly?
On web interface of D2, go to DHCP Server---Address Reservation and IP&MAC Binding to reserve a static IP for the printer.

Thanks for this. I still cannot see printer. I have assigned it 192.168.1.10 in both Address reservation and IP/MAC binding. I also have this IP on the printer port settings too. I have tried enabling and disabling the ARP binding, but this does not make any difference. One of the possible problems is that I had to use the MAC address from when I had things set up on my previous router, as without the new router seeing the printer I could not see a MAC address until I had added it as an IP address (which required a MAC address... ie catch 22....) Any thoughts?
Huge thanks
David

Not sure. Did you contact printer's technical support to ask help?
Maybe you need to change some other settings on router page?

Thanks - after a lot of fiddling around I managed to find a IP address that the printer was using which did not match what I had set from the router management. Now that this is fixed, I can communicate. Thanks for your words of wisdom. David
