Region : Australia

Model : Archer D9

Hardware Version : Not Clear

Firmware Version : 0.9.1 0.1 v0041.0 Build 150514 Rel.54055n

ISP : iinet

Sorry, I don't see an obvious place for a D9 thread.

I have picked up the below.

running win7 64bit

Archer D9
modem/router
Firmware Version: : 0.9.1 0.1 v0041.0 Build 150514 Rel.54055n
Hardware Version: Archer D9 v1 00000000

Archer T9E wireless adapter
Driver Version: 6.30.223.228

2.4GHz works no problem. I have a solid connection even down the street. through multiple walls. It just works. great.

The 5.0GHz signal is a different story. Its weird, The initial quick setup of the D9 I was able to see the signal and connect (although it was very very weak)...soon after it dropped and I couldn't find it again. So I reset the PC and reset the router. Pops back up connects again only for it to drop and disappear again.

I am fairly certain its the D9 causing issues. I only suggest this as it seems the signal appears after a reset of the modem only for it to drop and disappear again. I can also see a neighbours 5G connection coming in and out

I have also updated the firmware and drivers on both.

Any ideas?

edit:

I downloaded WifiInfoView and tested the channel signal quality on each of the 5GHz channels.

When I manually select a channel;
I can see all the lower channels. 36, 40, 44, 48.
But, I can't see any of these when selected. 149,153,157, 161

Should I not expect my wireless adapter to be able to see all these channels?

Also, turns out the other 5GHz signal was coming from my wireless headset. I have turned it off, but makes no difference.

About wireless coverage, generally, the lower the frequency the farther a wireless signal can travel. Therefore, devices on a 5 GHz network will tend to have a shorter range than those using 2.4 GHz. This can be mitigated somewhat with sophisticated antenna technology, but if a given device in your basement is relatively far from the dual band router and blocked by obstacles such as walls, you may have better luck connecting via 2.4 GHz.

Yes I'm aware of the range limitations of 5GHz in comparison to 2.4GHz.I'm more looking to an answer why my wireless adapter doesn't appear to be fully compatible with the router. Or vice versa.Either my wireless adapter not receiving the above mentioned bands or my router doesn't transmit. Any ideas?
