I'm using a TL-WN722N with an external (SMC 802.11b) 14 dBi antenna (TL-ANT2414A) and trying to reach my AP which is line of sight 200 meters away.
However, I still get very bad signal only a few dBs better (inSSIDer) than with the original built-in (3 dBi?) antenna.

Any ideas? Is this antenna too big for this little device?

PS. It is mounted and aimed on a very stable camera tripod with no metal nearby.

Is this "Tech Support Forum" just for show, or are there actually any Tech people here?

No, no techs here, we are just people like you.
Yes you made the mistake with the antenna, any router or USB antenna that comes with built in 3 or 5 dBi supports up to 9
With what you spent on the 2 antennas you are close to the price of a CPE210
