wdr3600 frequent DHCP renewal

i've been using a tp-link wdr3600 router for over a year, and lately i noticed quite frequent internet interruptions. i resetted the router, installed the latest firmware, modified the default DHCP lease renewal time, with no luck.
in the log i get " Dynamic IP(DHCP Client) obtained an IP successfully" every 3-4 minutes, which correlates with the internet being down. this happens on the wifi and cable connection too.
Did somebody have this problem?
