Hi everyone,

 

Is the connection preference feature coming to the Deco P9 anytime soon? If not, I’m seriously considering returning mine — they’ve made my TV practically unusable.

 

For some reason, my TV keeps connecting to the Deco unit in the bedroom, which has zero signal strength, instead of the one that’s literally right next to it. I can’t find any way to force it to connect to the nearest unit, and it’s driving me crazy.

 

Has anyone heard if this feature is coming, or found a workaround?

There are two possible workarounds:

 

1. Check if your TV has Ethernet port. If it does, connect TV to Deco P9 with Ethernet cable.

This is the best option. This is what I have done at my house.

 

or

 

2. Check if your TV supports WiFi5 (5GHz). Not all TVs do, many only run on 2.4GHz. If it does, you can force it to connect to Deco mesh on WiFi5. WiFi5 faster but its signal travels shorter distance, which makes it more likely for your TV to connect to P9 that is nearby.

If both workarounds are not possible and you can still return P9s, I suggest you do.
