It the same old story with this piece of kit.

Wi-fi card blew in my Toshiba C660 laptop, and it wouldn't connect to the net obviously, not realising that this was the problem, I upgraded up to Windows 10, but kept getting stuck at 32%. After uninstalling all the drivers for the network, wifi etc etc, it upgraded fine.

Still wouldn't connect to the my home network via the blown card, I didn't realise that it had gone supernova, and only after looking online did I find a thread that described blown cards causing critical failures in systems. Took the lump hammer, and the chisel to the laptop and removed the offending part. I happened to be in town and thought that I would grab a wifi dongle, rather than mess around buying another card. Yeah, so that is like my third mistake already, I know.

Plug and play said the guy in the shop, no pfaffing about, upgrade to win10, no problem, simple to install, of course, no worries sir.

Got the Archer plugged into Windows10 and lo and behold Windows found it, retrieved the proper drivers for it and all was well.

About two weeks in, I can't swear to it but there may have been a Win10 upgrade, arrived to start work with the laptop and no wifi. That can't be right, thinks I it was working last night.

And there is the beginning of the tale of drivers, frustration and no wifi.

So I now have a clean install of Win10 running all fine and dandy, I have a wired connection talking to my router, I have the offending piece in its USB, I have the drivers from the official site for Win8 (not 8.1 as some advised nor the mediatech fake ones) they hae found the dongle after installing them myself.

The dongle is alternating between its steady blink and then its fast blink but only for a few seconds each minute. The wifi on the screen is showing me a red cross and telling me that there are no connections ready, I can see the dongle in devices and in the change adapter settings screen.
