Model : TL-WR740N

Hardware Version :

Firmware Version : 3.14.0 Build 150323 Rel.56832n

ISP : Galitski Telekommunications LTD, Ternopil, Ukraine

1. New router, using factory settings.

2. PC set for DHCP always connects to internet via modem (ethernet cable). Works 100%

3. PC via modem (no router) can ping any usual address, such as tp-link.com

4. There is no login/password for the ISP: connect a PC, and you have internet access.

5. PC always makes WiFi connection to router, works 100%. Router administration page looks and functions fine.

6. Router always gets an IP assignment from the ISP (by DHCP). Works 100%

7. When ping is attempted from router (either by WiFi connected PC, or router administration diagnostics page), there is no ping response (always times out).

7a. However, ping DOES show a correct IP for the site, so DNS lookup is working!

That is the situation: DNS yes, other internet response no.

Any help will be deeply appreciated!

No ping, no internet. If I had internet, I wouldn't have tried ping ;)

what do you mena by: There is no login/password for the ISP,connect a PC, and you have internet access.
if it's true, why you need a modem? just plug the ethernet cable into the router and set dynamic IP and it will work. (maybe I dont have a completely understand )
and have you check the ip settings on your pc? I think it'd better be automaticlly obtain.
and try reset the router and reconfigure?

Probably, I didn't understand this question. I need the modem to get ethernet in my house.

just plug the ethernet cable into the router and set dynamic IP and it will work

That's what I have been attempting for a week now. The router successfully gets an IP assignment by DHCP, and I can do DNS lookup via the router. Otherwise, no internet access.

have you check the ip settings on your pc?

Both the router and the PC are set up for DHCP. Both the router and the PC successfully get IP assignments. I have no problem communicating between the PC adn the router. Not only can I do DNS lookup, but I get the router administration webpage with no problems.

try reset the router and reconfigure?

I have tried resetting the router, resetting its configuration to factory defaults (multiple times), and varying the LAN address of the router (just to be sure).

I don't really do any configuration at all (except for the LAN IP experiments), because the factory default settings are exactly what I want.

1.check Status-WAN-DNS server,if it is in the same segment net with the LAN ip,go to Network-LAN and change the router's LAN ip like 192.168.1.1 or 2.1 ,wait a while and see if you have internet.
(if you dont like to change lan ip ,can change dns under Network-WAN )

2.maybe the ISP have your pc's MAC bind, try" mac clone" under Network menu.

if these doesn't work,I'm sorry,i suggest you to contact tplink support, they can help you
