Hi,

We live in a small flat, but have a problem with weak wifi signal in the Living Room. The main router is in the bedroom but there are two thick brick walls in the way.

I bought the twin powerline pack:

TP-LINK TL-WPA4220KIT AV500 Powerline 300

which offers an ethernet and wifi connection in the same adaptor. I plugged this into a socket in the Living room and although it solved the weak signal issue, it created a new problem. Basically any network devices, like the Epson network printer/scanner or the Bose soundsystem can not be controlled when you are in the Living room as they are connecting to the bedroom router signal. This is because the printer is on wifi but closer to the bedroom router and so connects there. The Bose uses the wired ethernet port on the TP-Link adaptor and so is connecting through to the bedroom router.

It is annoying because we can not control the Bose when in the Living room, as the app on the iPhone or iPad thinks it is on a different network. If we try to print it can not find the printer and likewise if we try to scan a document. This can all be solved by moving the laptop or iPhone/iPad to the Bedroom from where it works fine.

So essentially it seems like our devices think there are two separate wifi networks instead of one.

Is there an easy fix? As the adaptors do work well in fixing the weak signal!

Thanks in advance,

T23
