Power Link not working after windows reinstall

Hi All,
Been using the power link for about 2 years on my PC, however the windows 7 faltered and i had to reinstall it. Now the power link is not recognised, and no connection to the router.
If I plug it into my laptop, its wifi closes down and the power link connects and works great. If I return it to the PC there is still no connection.
Is there a firmware or program that I can download or is there a setting on the PC that may have to be changed.
