TP link AC1900 ( AP500 ) extender problem

I was told that AP500 extender can only host one network ? I have to choose either 2.4ghz or 5ghz . If the answer is yes then why under the "extended wireless settings" i able to enable both 2.4ghz and 5ghz at the same time .Besides that , i have trouble connecting to wireless network via my phone ( samsung note 5 & huawei mate9 ) . The error message is failed to obtain ip address .Other devices like laptop and ipad works fine . Anyone can help me with the setting please ?
