Model : TL-WR1042ND

Hardware Version : 1.0

Firmware Version : 20130923 (latest)

Hello all.
I suspect this is a common issue (checked 2 threads with similar questions but without an answer to my case). Anyway, The problem is that my TL-WR1042ND cannot see Google Chromecast 2 at all: it does not appear neither in "Wireless Statistics" or the "DHCP Clients List". I can see Chromecast as a wifi node on my tablet so I am pretty sure that at least Chromecast is transmitting.Router firmware is the latest one (20130923). AP isolation is disabled. Least to say, my router is working fine with my pc, laptop, and Android devices. I have already tried the following:

Reset Chromecast via its reset button
[*]Reset the router
[*]Disabled wireless security
[*]Minimized Chromecast to router distance (less than 1m)

Still nothing works and I am feeling very frustrated. Has this router ever been successfully connected to Chromecast? Is there any setting (different than defaults) I should try?

Thank you in advance.

when you setup it on the phone, does the chromecast see the wireless signal of this router? if no, change the channel of it to 1 or 6.

uutommi, your suggestion did worked! After manually setting TP-WR1042ND to use channel 1, the router is now able to connect to Chromecast. I had seen this suggestion before but I couldn't believe that it would do the job (I was mostly concerned about the lack of IGMP support on this router, since Google recommends that feature).

Frankly I am puzzled with this and I am worried of future problems with my wifi network; it is not a good practice to use a single wifi channel when there are other wifi routers nearby! But I will keep this router until I buy a newer model.

Thank you very much.
