@woozle Turns out, doing a factory reset made it all work. The extender was able to connect to the router using WPS (finally), and the HomePod Mini in the kitchen now has a stable internet...

@woozle thanks for the quick response. The 5Ghz channel was set to Auto. I've now changed it to 120 (DFS) - there was a note about radar detection but otherwise it seems to have changed successfully....
