I think it will work only with a firmware update
Unfortunatelly I don't believe it will work properly, unless TP-Link provides a new firmware to fix this behaviour. Did you check if is there any new firmware version for your model? I've abandoned...

As I couldn't manage to restart the router every time the connection dropped, I've ended up buying another one (TP-Link Archer C8). With the new router, everything seems to be working well.
