Via router I mean main cable goes into WAN port and out through the ethernet to desktop computer.

Hello, I bought Archer C2(EU) Ver3.0 router. It claims to provide full gigabit connection via wan port. With direct ethernet connection to the desktop computer I get around 300+mbps with speedtest....
