Model: Archer AX50
Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version: 1.0.8 Build 20200426 rel.65338

I just installed the AX50 as a second AP (to be used exclusively with my AX devices), relegating the slower AC devices to my existing Netgear R7800. I am consistently getting wi-fi throughput of 100mbps more on the Netgear R7800, testing on a laptop with an intel AX200 card. The AX50 avgs 150-300mbps dl speed from farthest usage point (about 50ft away) to the closest (3 ft from antennas). The Netgear R7800 (An ac wifi router/AP) avgs 250-400+mbps with same laptop, same testing. I have tried auto settings, and manually choosing channels/width, but see no improvement. I bought this wifi router with expectation of AX increased performance on my 1gb service connection, and so far, I'm disappointed, of course that's it's much slower than my older  ac access point.

Please advise possible best config, problem resolution.  Thanks in advance.

@Kevin_Z Thank you for quick reply. I think I may have found that it is simply that the AX50 antennas are not as strong as the R7800, as signal and resultant speed drops off much more rapidly as I move the test connection farther away from each. I have done a site survey and found I can move and isolate the AX50 near the dedicated AX devices and it will work reasonably well. The performance of the wired connections, although disappointing, are not as important - we will be using it for wi-fi AP exclusively. Thanks again.

@Lackosleep

Hello,

May I know your detailed network diagram that how each device is connected? What is the working modem of the AX50, is it in router mode or AP mode?

How about the negotiation speed on the laptop with the AX200 adapter when it is connected to the AX50 as well as it is connected to the Netgear R7800? You may refer to the below to confirm it:

How to check the associated/link speed on a wireless client

Do you have any other wireless clients to do a simple comparison test when connected to the AX50?

Additionally, what is the speed you may get when a computer is connected to the ISP modem directly with an Ethernet cable?
