Hello,
DoT and DoH is more of security feature which even low end devices should support in 2022.
As these features are security and privacy related, these should get high priority in implementing.
I hope TP-Link would consider this need and implement it ASAP.

check out cloudfare teams zero trust you can create a doh on many locations in the cloud work across routers that currently dont support doh . yes you have create a account but you have much more secure network setup the agentless version of warp on your network

depending on your tplink router by default 8.8.8.8 and 1.1,1..1 in the internet section or wan config that can vary depending on the model i would recommend changing to 1,1,1,2 to block malware give this a try it should help improve your network
