my car won't connect to the units although everything else in the house does. Range is not the issue, the SSID is not hidden and I'm using 2.4 and 5 GHz bands.

I was wondering if the protocols are limited or changeable ? Eg 802.11n / a etc....

Hi, welcome to the community.

Usually, 802.11ax/ac protocols are backward compatible with 802.11n which most of the smart IOT devices work with.

There are some suggestions for your reference:

1. Temporarily turn off "fast roaming" and "beamforming" under Deco APP>More>Advanced.

2. Temporarily disable 5GHz under Wi-Fi settings.

3. Update the firmware to the latest version. I see the latest firmware for Deco X60_v3 is 1.2.4 now and maybe you could also try to manually update the firmware:
