Model: Deco M4
Hardware Version: V2
Firmware Version: 1.1.8 Build 20190917 Rel. 76172

Hi,

If i put my PC's network adapter into monitor mode a network named "(HiddenSSID)" appears instead of my wifi network name. It doesn't appear in my phone's wifi settings or any other devices settings !! If i also put my phone into monitor mode via some app like "Wifi Analyzer" it appears there too. Mac address of the network also close to my router mac address. Just second one digit change. As my network mac is 74:XX:XX:XX:XX:XX and the (HiddenSSID)'s mac is 7A:XX:XX:XX:XX:XX. Both working on same band and same channels too !!

I want to know why it shows and why my network name not showing into monitor mode ? Is this a security system ??

Hello, like leogz said, the hidden SSID is used for wifi backhaul only, it cannot be detected by normal wireless devices, but can be detected via wifi analyzer.

The hidden SSID is secured and encrypted, so is the communication between different APs, you do not have to worry about it.

Good day.

Hidden SSID is one hide wifi network to Wifi Backhaul, deco units talk between this network. All traffic.
