Model: Archer T9UH
Hardware Version: V2
Firmware Version: Not Known

I have a PC connected to the internet via Archer T9UH and a BT Smart Hub 2 Router. The connection is Full Fibre 500Mbps.

I have noticed that when doing an install or a re-install of Windows 11 the internet connection is lost at a certain point. This is when the OS has been fully downloaded and the installation of it has begun. The process has reached the stage of "Installing Windows 11. Your computer will restart several times"  It does restart a couple of times but then on the next restart it shows "just a second". At this point the Tp Link adapter blue light is flashing. The screen is now  completely black except for those words. It will stay like this for a long time and one presumes that the internet connection has been lost. I have tried to re-connect by using the WPS Tool method but without success. So now no further progress can be made of the install/re-install.  The only solution seems to be to switch the PC off and then back on again hoping not to have corrupted the install.

Is there a solution to this situation?

Thank you for reading this.

Hi,

Windows 11 should not need an active Internet connection to finish its installation. I have done it several times without it.

If you need the Internet connection to download Windows 11, because you are not using an installation media, then start the installation with the Archer T9UH plugged in, but at the first restart during the installation unplug the Archer T9UH and put it aside. If Windows 11 cannot complete its installation this way, then there must be another problem that prevents the installation from completing.

Hi

Thank you for your reply. I always use a media creation tool when doing an installation and also leave the Internet connection running.

The situation I am describing seems to have come with the recent update to Windows 11 - the one that altered the Print Screen function.

Anyway I can live with it but always curious about these things.
