Hi everyone,

I am based in the UK and I am a Virgin customer with the 1GB connection. I currently am using an Orbi 6 Mesh Network and the performance has been incredibly unstable for some time. Virgin engineers have been in and checked the connections, I have been given a new router but if anything the stability is getting worse.

I am looking at purchasing the Archer BE800 and I was looking for options of a hardwired range extender, but it needs a couple of ethernet connections as I run a small server in my office.

There are a couple of things to note. I have a connected house using Googel infrastructure. Essentially I have around 50 devices including indivial wifi lights, radiator valves, smart screen, TVs consoles and PCs etc.

Will the router be able to handle of all this? With the Orbi I had a seperate 2.4Ghz network for IOT devices.

On the range extender front, is it worth also purchasing another TP-Link router which will act as a Wifi 7 extender?

Appreciate that is a lot of information, any suggestions as to a TP-Link combo would be really appreciated.

@Ch3w84cc4 If you go for a mesh be aware the BE800 uses OpenMesh and none of the value add features like Guest and IoT are supported only on the main router and the WiFi 7 Multi Link Operation is also only supported on the main router.

There is no timeline for the implementation to be done but TP Link claims it will do it although it's been over a year and the message is still the same.

Hello @Ch3w84cc4 ,

Thank you for contacting our community.

According to your needs, I think the Deco Mesh system may better meet your needs. Please refer to What is Mesh Wi-Fi?

Here is the list of Whole-Home Mesh Wi-Fi Systems.

You can filter specifications through the left menu bar or compare different models.

If you have more questions, please reply here or create a new thread in the Deco section.
