Model: Archer AX12
Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version: 1.2.1

Hello,

I’m experiencing a networking issue with my TP-Link Archer AX12 AX1500 Gigabit Wi-Fi 6 Router where devices on the same Wi-Fi band cannot communicate at all:

  • Devices on 2.4 GHz can access 5 GHz and wired devices, but cannot reach other 2.4 GHz devices.

  • Devices on 5 GHz can access 2.4 GHz and wired devices, but cannot reach other 5 GHz devices.

  • Pinging devices on the same band returns “Destination Host Unreachable”, not just blocked by firewall.

I was able to confirm this behavior by splitting the SSIDs for 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz and testing multiple devices on each band — the issue persisted.

I have verified:

  • AP Isolation is disabled on both bands.

  • Devices are connected to the same SSID.

  • Guest networks are not being used.

  • Firmware is up to date: 1.2.1 Build 20250729 Rel. 73566(4555)

  • Smart Connect is enabled

I have tried multiple devices and router reboots. Sometimes the issue temporarily resolves after a few reboots, but it always comes back.

Router model: Archer AX12 v1.0
Firmware version: 1.2.1 Build 20250729 Rel. 73566(4555)

Has anyone else experienced this issue, and are there any known fixes?

Thank you for your help!

  @Ghassen

Behavior described is pretty much the same as if the AP isolation is enabled - check this thread.

Hi@Ghassen ,

Welcome to our community.

As terziyski mentioned, your description sounds like AP isolation is enabled. You can refer to Brief Introduction of AP Isolation: AP Isolation is used to protect the device against attacks from other device in the same network. With this function enabled, the device isolates all the connected clients within the same wireless network from each other, which enhances the network security of users.

Please hard reset the router and reconfigure the router.
