I am trying to incorporate a remote printer into my home WiFi network. I have a cablevision supplied modem and router that supply WiFi Internet access. Wireless devices (iPad, iPhones, laptop computer) all connect flawlessly. The printer is not WiFi capable but has various ports for access, including a USB printer port as well as a NIC Ethernet port. I am able to plug in and access the RE505X via install procedures but when the tp-link is connected to the printer using an Ethernet cable, Windows doesn't "find" the printer. Directly connecting the laptop with the printer results in a good Windows Printer Test Page.

Should the printer-ethernet cable-RE505X-WiFi-... configuration work?

Thank you.

Hi,

When the printer is connected behind the RE505X you will most likely need to connect to it by using the printers IP address.

After Windows failed to "find" a printer it should show you an option that reads something like "The desired printer is not listed -> Add a device manually".

The "Add manually" dialog should give you an option to add a printer by supplying its IP address.

In case you don't know the IP address of the printer, then look it up in the clients list of your router.
