Problem with Steam
Hi, I have a problem. After connecting the Archer T3U Plus V1 adapter, the internet works fine, but Steam itself won't launch. I've tried everything. I replaced the older model with the one described in the text, and the problem persists. Do you know what to do? I can log in to Steam itself in a browser, but I need the client. Thank you for your help

Hello @Trochosz ,
Welcome to our community.
Since your internet is working for other applications and only Steam is affected, this anomaly may be related to network configuration, firewall settings, or compatibility with the adapter. Here are some steps you can try to troubleshoot:
1. Restart Steam and Your Computer: Fully close Steam (use Task Manager to ensure it is not running in the background) and restart your computer.
2. Check Firewall and Antivirus Settings: Sometimes, new network adapters can cause Windows Firewall or antivirus software to block certain applications. Make sure Steam is allowed through your firewall and antivirus.
3. Disable and Re-enable the Adapter: Go to your network settings, disable the Archer T3U Plus adapter, and then enable it again.
4. Update Adapter Driver: Make sure you have the latest driver for your adapter. Download and install it from the official TP-Link website.
5. Reinstall Steam: If none of the above steps help, try uninstalling and reinstalling the Steam client.

It sounds like the Archer T3U Plus adapter may be causing a conflict with the Steam client, even though your internet works fine. A few things to try:
-
Run Steam as Administrator—right-click the shortcut and select “Run as administrator.”
-
Check Windows Firewall / antivirus—make sure Steam is allowed through both, as new network adapters can trigger restrictions.
-
Clear Steam’s download cache: Open Steam → Settings → Downloads → Clear Download Cache.
-
Reinstall Steam client while keeping your
steamappsfolder to preserve games. -
Update the network adapter driver to the latest version from TP-Link, and consider reinstalling the driver if the problem persists.
Most issues like this are related to network adapter permissions or driver conflicts rather than Steam itself.
