Model: Deco M4
Hardware Version:
Firmware Version: 1.1.2 Build 20231227 Rel. 84005

i had replaced my former M4R network with a BE85. I have 3 such units installed via Ethernet in our house.

Our bedroom equipment connects to the main BE85 in the living room, thus, having a weaker signal.

I wanted to use one of the M4R in our bedroom, connected it via Ethernet cable, tested the cable with the Mac first, then added the M4R to the network. It is found and connects to the network but not via Ethernet cable. I tried Ethernet 1 and 2, but it makes no difference.

I had tried different Ethernet cables (all cat-6) but still, the M4R only connects to the main network via WiFi.

Is there anything else i need to can do to change the connection to Ethernet?

Hi  @GerdGoebel

Welcome to the Community!

If you haven't already, I'd recommend resetting the M4R node in question, then re-add it via the Deco app.

If the behavior persists, I'd recommend contacting our technical support team for further assistance using the resources Here.

Thanks!

@GerdGoebel By Bedroom "equipment", you mean the satellite Deco in there?

Just a M4 (2-pack) user who regrets buying it

  @ImtiazAli

Yes, the deco unit in the bedroom.

But i found the problem, by testing the ethernet port in the bedroom with the mac. The ethernet cable i had used for the deco did work correctly with my mac but not with the deco. I tried another cable, same thing, it worked with the mac but not the deco.

Then i found an older cable, tried it with it, and the deco connected via Ethernet.

I need to talk to our electrician to check if the Ethernet wiring in our bedroom is different.
