Firmwareupdate for TP-PL8030P

Hello,
I'd like to ask for a firmware update for the TP-PL8030P adapters which is based on the latest or a more recent *.nvm file.
Background:
As far as I know, all 1200 or 1300 Mbit/s powerline adapter are using the same chipset from Qualcomn (QCA7500).
TP-Link is also selling the TP-PL8010P adapters which are similar to the 8030 adapters except they lack two lan ports.
The lastest firmware for the 8030 adapters is from 28/03/16 while the lastet firmware for the 8010 adapters is from 18/08/16 (Day / Month / Year).
The firmware file of a QCA7500 adapter consists of two files.
The first file is the *.nvm file which is the firmware for the chipset provided by Qualcomn.
The second file is a *.pib file (parameter information block) which stores parameter information (MAC-address, tone-map (which frequencies should be used with which power), ...) and is adjusted by the producer of the adapter (TP-Link).
The new firmware of the 8010 adapter has the following nvm file: MAC-7500-v2.2.2-00-X-CS.nvm .
The latest firmware of the 8030 adapter has only the following nvm file: MAC-7500-v2.0.0-05-X-CS.nvm .
As you can see there is quite a big version jump from one chipset firmware to the other.
With a new firmware I hope to get improved performance and stability, therefore I'd like to have a new firmware for the 8030 adapter which is based on at least the MAC-7500-v2.2.2-00-X-CS.nvm .
Devolo also sells 1200 Mbit/s adapters on the German market and they claim that an firmware update (with NVM 2.2.x ...) boosts performance by 20% (though I do not know if that's true or whether they have adjusted anything else like the tone map).
PS: I tried to crossflash firmware : Using the firmware from the 8010 adapters or a combination of the new nvm with the pib from the 8030 adapter but I could not flash the firmware.

Hi Nolan,
Do you foresee any problems flashing P A8010P with this firmware? I am not sure what the difference between PL and PA is. I am currently using the official TL-PA8010P_KIT(EU)_V1_160818 firmware but still experiencing disconnects so I thought I'd give this a shot.
Thank you,
Andrew

Based upon the 2.2.3 firmware and tested just the flashing part.
8010P V1 2.2.3
Use the embedded flashing utility.
Giving you right now the link through PM. Report back if it brick or work.
Yes, the WPA8630 can be used to deploy any custom open source firmware, tho, idk about the chip throughput ability.

Nolan, any chance you can modify the firmware the way that it will always ping the 2 power lines devices? so we finally fix the random disconnects and timeouts.

Try the 2.2.3 with power saving off in tpPLC, it seem to be better for me.

The power line should already sense each other through the HOMEPLUG AV protocol, check with wireshark. If that's not happening with the 2.2.2 firmware something in the middle is dropping the broadcast ( bad switch etc etc ).

I'm not currently aware of any difference, also, if you are experiencing issue you'll better try out the beta from tplink.

News: TL-PA8030P EU V2 new firmware released, download available from tp-link.de at least. Also released: New version of tpPLC utility for windows, adding a powersave mode switch, and fixing the LED disabling bug where the LEDs would still blink in powersave mode even when set to Disabled.
I've used the new utility to update my pair of 8030P, all went as expected, speed and link stability good, powersave mode working well.

For those interested, firmware v2.4.0-01 for QCA7500 :
https://1fichier.com/?51iwju01lr
PIB v2.2.x are OK with it.
I take no responsibility if you brick your PLC. Don't try to flash blindly.
Do understand beforehand that it's a full QCA firmware, ie there are 7 modules in it vs TP-Link ones which use 5, and there's might/must be a reason for this choice.
So if you want to have a 5 modules firmware, you have to :
0 download and build binaries from Qualcomm Atheros Open Powerline Toolkit : https://github.com/qca/open-plc-utils
1 split modules ( nvmsplit)
2 merge needed modules - i.e omit "OAS Client IP Stack" and "OAS Client TR069" module - ( nvmmerge)
3 verify the integrity of the new merged NVM ( chknvm2 -v + nvmsplit -v )

Could you please provide a more detailed instructions how to do that? What software is needed? If you could post FW for PL8010P, I would be grateful :-)

OK, I've added some instructions
in italic in my post, about what software is needed, and what commands are to be passed. HTH.
As for "already-made customisation for TP-Link", I'm a little bit reluctant to provide one this since it defeats the purpose of giving explanations in order for people to understand stuff they are doing but well, here it is:
