Model: TL-WPA7510 KIT
Hardware Version: V2
Firmware Version:

Hi,

Can't seem to get the kit to connect with the Netgear. Would like to just plug and play..but something is not playing. It apparently is connecting partially at least..but Windows 10 says "No internet, secured". When I run the Troubleshooter, I get a "DNS server not responding" msg.  Any ideas suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

thanks

Disconnect the Ethernet from the powerline adapter wired to your router, and connect a computer to it. If your computer is a laptop disconnect from any wireless network, and test the internet connection. Likely there is no internet going through the cable you gave the first powerline adapter to.

If the cable does work, connect the powerline adapter back, and look at the powerline light (house icon). That should be lit up, either green or red (red means the connection is not as fast).

If the light is off, press the pair button on both powerline adapters. If the light still does not come on, move the wireless adapter to the same room to pair them again.

Thanks for the response Tony!

Cable is good...was able to connect directly to the Netgear via ethernet. House symbol and 2 others lit up on the adaptor. Did notice that the 2 "new" SSID networks are not present now though..Yes, have done all this in same room which is controlled by a common circuit breaker. Will reset both adaptor and extender and try once again..thanks!

OK...did a reset on both devices. Unplugged both from wall socket. Plugged adaptor in and hit the pair button. Plugged extender in and hit the pair button on it. Both "new" networks are showing now once again in the listings, but still get the msg "No internet, secured" when trying to connect. I'm stumped. Got 3 leds lit on the adaptor and all but the middle one lit on the extender. Both are about 10' apart from each other with the Netgear up above in the middle.

If you log into your router, do you see the wireless powerline adapter listed as getting an IP? I've seen a similar case where a WPA4220 was not getting a correct IP causing issues.

No, nothing showing the 2 extender channels. They are both appearing in the wifi list one 2.4G and on the 5G. Its something in the hotspot that needs to be modified enabled/disabled. I notice that both DNLA and DMZ check boxes are not checked..not sure what those are?

thanks man

I apologize, I was referring to your DHCP list that shows all the connected hosts or devices that are on your network.

The power adapter that is wired to your router will not get an IP, but the wireless one should.

The list will look something like this, MAC address of the wireless powerline adapter is behind it on the sticker label:

Yes, the 2 laptops and cell phone are showing up under wifi and the extender is showing up under the LAN heading with MAC address, IP etc but doesnt say anything about DHCP. Also, Upnp is enabled as is VPN passthrough. Should the IP be changed?

As long is the IP of the powerline device is not the same as the one you use to log into the router, then the IP is fine.

Try and reset the device using the tpPLC utility on your computer.

Please download the tpPLC utility for your respective system: https://www.tp-link.com/us/support/download/tl-wpa7510-kit/#Utility

Connect to your router, and run the utility, you should see both adapters.

Using this as a reference, reset the wireless adapter, starts on the bottom section on page 10: https://static.tp-link.com/1910012196_tpPLC%20Utility_UG.pdf

Was able to reset the device. Tried to connect...nope. After reset I noticed that the device is no longer being listed under the LAN heading. PC is showing that it is connected to the 2.4 extender, but when I click on browser its a no go. Progress...

Might be worth checking the firmware to make sure it is up to date.

In the tpPLC app, go to Basic > About (wireless adapter), look at the build. It is formatted as a date. There are two hardware versions of the powerline adapter, v1 and v2. The firmware should show which hardware version it is. If not, look behind the wireless adapter, it should be on the sticker label near the serial number.

Here is a link to the firmware currently avaialble for the powerline devices: https://www.tp-link.com/us/support/download/tl-wpa7510-kit/#Firmware

Up top you can choose V1 or V2. Make sure to not update the powerline adapter with the wrong hardware version.

In reference to the manual for the tpPLC utility, look at page 13, that will show you how to update the firmware. As a side note, when you download the firmware, extract the zip file, the .bin file is what you will upload through the utility.
