@natsbar

Ya, I will forward that feature request for consideration.

@Tony I have the same issue even with most recent firmware. My neighbourhood has very congestion 5G channels. Have to manually assign a channel. However it always jumps back to channel 149 after a while. Could you please help me to report to the engineers and get a fixed beta firmware?

My router version is:

Model: Archer AX50(US) Ver:1.0

@RyanChen funny you should mention it. The new firmware has been working great for me, but yesterday, the same problem came up again. I'll keep a lookout and report if it's a regular problem.

In a similar story, of how this is supposed to work, I was using Wifi Analyzer a minute ago. I saw a radar signal pop up for a second and disappear. My AX6000 router dropped out, then came back after about 10 seconds. That's how it's supposed to work. I'm wondering if the same would have happened if the radar signal popped up in a band that was closer to my AX3000 router.

I am assuming only DFS channels will share frequencies with radar and other emergency communications. It may fall back due to traffic detection. However in my case even the non-DFS channels could not stay under manual mode. And that's confusing. @natsbar

I don't know why, but it's happening again. My ax3000 again can't stay on the DFA channels.

When an AP is switched over a DFS channel it will first scan to see if an existing radar is using it and also while in use. If that happens it will exclude that channel. That is why it will appear to work at one point then stop. If that is happening it would be strongly recommended to not use a DFS channel given the environment.

Yes, I understand that the router has to scan for radar on DFS channels and hop off the DFS channels when it detects radar. The problem is that once it hops off DFS, it does not continue scanning and return to DFS once the channel becomes clear. I have an ax6000 in the same house and it does not have this problem at all.

I did a little reading. The problem is that the DFS scanning is resulting in false positives. The symptoms are that

(1) I get knocked off DFS on all the DFS bands, not just one or two

(2) It's sporadic. Sometimes I can stay on for days or weeks, sometimes I get kicked off in minutes.

For references: https://wifinigel.blogspot.com/2018/05/the-5ghz-problem-for-wi-fi-networks-dfs.html

Bug report has changed. The AX3000 is too sensitive and reports false positives on the DFS channels.

But the thing is that it does not selecte the less interfered channel in DFS group. In fact it always falls back to 149 which in my case it is a pretty busy channel. I can monitor that channel 112 has no other one is using but just could not fixed it to channel 112.

And same issue happends to non DFS channel. I tried channel 48 which is non-DFS channel. Still the router falls back to 149 after a while. Please do some tests and find a fix for this issue.
