2nd router working fine but it THINGS it's not connected to the internet

I have connected a 2nd router (Archer C2 v.3) to my main router in order to extend my network to another floor.

(I disabled DHCP on 2nd, forced and IP to the 2nd out of the DHCP pool of the 1st etc.)

Everything is working fine:

1) I can't see my whole network connecting throught the 2nd router's wifi or ethernet (all PC visible, my NAS visible etc.)

2) I have internet access

BUT

The second router things it's not connected to the internet. I am not sure what limitations I might face in the future but there was one thing I faced right away.

I tried to check for firmware update throught "system tools" and I got the an error that ti was not possible because the router is not connected to the internet.

Please see attached screenshots.

Is there something I might have forgot to set ?

Regards

I want help but those information won't help for your issue. I think you should check your internet settings in your Archer C2.

Ich got the same issue

Primary Telekom-DSL Router: Archer VR200v

(Settings: No WLAN due to not accessibly based on location, but supports everything else like LAN, Telefon, etc very fine)

Secondary WLAN Router: Archer VR600V

(Settings: WLAN Router, No DHCP, WLAN, etc., connected via LAN3 port to home network hub (Using WAN/LAN4: no access to Vr600v possible via PC and LAN, not visible on Vr200v)

WLAN is working fine including perfect access to internet, BUT

- Status of Internet: Disabled

- Guest Network: Login possible, but no access to internet

- analog telefon: not working

- access to TP-Link-Cloud: Device is offline  (Vr200v doesn't support this feature)

- access to GMT server to set time: not possible (but it's possible to receive the time from PC)

What's going wrong?

Hi,

You are not using the WAN port on 2nd router, right?

Some features are not available in that case. For sure it will show internet connection status disconnected since that's for WAN. Online update, NTP server, etc. that based on the WAN will not work.

Thank you

I'm not using WAN Port due to I have not idea how to setup it correctly in a manner, that

- the Vr600v is still part of the LAN network of VR200v

- remains accessible throught its static IP 192.168.1.2 (VR200v = 192.168.1.1)

- has connection to the internet without disturbing the VR200v

- remains in the same VLAN

- or even works.

Everything I tried resulted in no function or error code of the router without chance to save the setting. May be you're able to provide a proposal for such a setup.

Kind regards

Ralf

Seems like you've set up as access point. If you want it to be router, using the WAN port, login the modem, go to Advanced>Operation mode, select wireless router mode and connect VR200 LAN to VR600 LAN/WAN port.

Thank you for trying supporting us, but that's exactly the issue.

The Operation mode is set to "Wireless Router Mode", in other words it's not configured to "3G/4G Router Mode" or "DSL Router Mode"

But while connecting VR600v using WAN/LAN4  port I have to recall everthing I wrote at post #5. It simply doesn't work or I have no idea how to get it work. Unhappily every help in the www tells the same: Do NOT use WAN port.

Kind regards

Ralf

If you want to use VR600 as wireless router, change its LAN IP address, or change it on VR200. Both IP address are 192.168.1.1, there will be conflict. May change one to 192.168.2.1

Please refer to post #5

IP already static and different. but within the same subnet. Please advise setup using different subnets or did you intent to have netmask e.g. 255.255.0.0 ? Kind regards Ralf

If you want to configure the VR600v in the wireless router mode, after you selected the mode, you can change the LAN IP address to 192.168.2.1, subnet mask to 255.255.255.0, enable DHCP server, connect the WAN/LAN port to the first modem.
