Model: ER7206 (TL-ER7206)
Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version: 1.2.1 Build 20220512 Rel.77113

Hi

I have assigned permanent IP to one of the PC in my local network. (192.168.1.20)

I have put the MAC address in the "Address Reservation" list.

So far so good.

This week I had to change the PC's network adapter, so I have a new MAC address for the same PC.

I can't find a way to remove the old network card's MAC address, to assign the same local IP.

The old MAC address is still present on the DHCP Client list keeping the requested local IP address occupied.

I even tried to add again the old MAC address to the reservation address, and change the local IP in the saved list to something else, hoping it will clear the 192.168.1.20 from the client list, but it did not help.

The  old MAC address wil the  IP 192.168.1.20, is still in the client list, so I can't assign this local IP to the new network adapter.

Any idea how to remove permanent MAC address ?

Thanks

@doryo If you are using Omada Controller? You can delete the know clients on Insight option.

Thanks

@doryo I think you can try reboot the router, or upgrade the firmware of the router to see if there is any difference?

My router is managed by Controller so I can't test it, I suggest you can also try the Controller. It's easy to use.

Thanks I tried both rebooting and I have just updated the firmware earlier this week. Looking for a way to remove a client without the controller.

I am also in standalone on latest firmware version. The page at Network > LAN > Address Reservation has a small garbage can icon next to each row to delete an entry. You can alternatively use the edit button and disable entries temporarily.

  @dsj

Thanks for your reply.

I know that I can remove (delete) or disable it from the reserved section.

The problem is that even after removing the old device (MAC address), it still appears in the DHCP client list, with a permanent lease time.

I can't assign another device to that address.

It has the "disk" icon next to it, like other temporary device with expiring lease time.

This one has a permanent lease time, even thou it is not in the Address Reservation list.

(attached)

My goal is to assign the local address 192.168.1.13 to the new device.

@doryo Did your 192.168.1.13 client still connect the ER7206 ? You can try to disconnect the client. Then you may type in the commands(as follow) in your command window.

ipconfig /release
ipconfig /renew

  @HelsingL

Hi

The old Netowrk adapter stopped working so I can't connect it again.

But!

I have found that the old MAC adress was kept some how in the IP-MAC Binding List.

I have removed it, but it still didn't help.

Then, another REBOOT, cleard the old DHCP list and the problem was solved!

@doryo I'm experiencing the same issue. Somehow the IP-MAC binding has 192.168.0.103 listed for my server, but my server keeps using 192,168.0.120, and the lease time says "Permanent", which means I can't remove it.

I have this feeling I'm going to have to use Omada Controller Software to get around this because no amount of reboots has worked, and I've been using this hardware for a year without hiccups. Now all of a sudden my main home server doesn't originate from the same IP so ALL of my pcs aren't able to connect properly to the fileserver.

Make sure you are deleting the entries from BOTH DHCP address reservation and IP mac binding
