Band Steering on EAP245 V3 with OC200 Omada controller
Hi All,
I have set-up an OC200 with ER605 Router connecting two EAP245 v3.
I have setup three wirless SSID's all allowing 2.4, 5.0 and 6.0 Ghz access.
How can i set-up the Wireless network in such way that for modern devices it will give 5.0Ghz band priority.
When i test with my mobile phone it connects with 2.4 while it can connect with 5.0.
When i disbale the 2.4, obviosly the phone connects on the 5.0 automatically.
The EAP are connected via UTP cable on a managed switch TL-SG108E.
Thanks for any help.

Hey
Have you enabled Band Steering and Roaming under site / advanced features? Also bear in mind that some devices will connect to 2.4 first, before band steering to the 5ghz band.

Try this:
1. Forget the network on your phone(or other wireless devices);
2. On the Controller, disable 5Ghz for the SSID;
3. Connect the SSID on the phone(so it will be connected to 5Ghz;
4. Enable 2.4G on the Controller.

Apologies for my delayd reply - (i was sick) THis morning i have tried to search for the settings your are referring to
I do not have these settings under "Site settings".
I have an OC200 controller with the latest firmware.
Maybe you can send me the correct path to the setting (it could be that i overlook something...)

@Somnus Thnaks for you reply.
Your solutions works. But the solution is not sustainabl, because everytime a new phone connects to the network it will still offer the 2.4Ghz as first.

Hey
Its deffinately under ADMIN > SITE but you need to click / select advanced features to see it.
If you havent done that yet, then likely you wont have bandsteering enabled so that might be your issue :)

@Philbert - i found it !
I overlooked the "advanced features" thickbox.
Will configure it and check how it will perform.
Many thanks for your support.
