  @Clive_A

Actually, the same thing is happening to me about the IPv6 implementation of ER605 v2. Since the 2.1.4 beta update (I am currently on the latest 2.2.3 beta firmware), I noticed that my ER605 v2 has been converting my /56 WAN IPv6 I am getting from my ISP's bridged GPON ONT to a /64 prefix. The effect of this is it is sometimes difficult to obtain WAN IPv6 from my ISP.

I am sure that my ISP is giving a /56 prefix since I have checked the WAN configs of my ISP's GPON ONT before bridging it. And besides, my ISP is only giving a /56 prefix to all its subscribers.

IP-statistics:

It would be helpful if the WAN used was also displayed next to the application (WAN1 / WAN2 / ...)

Best regards

  @Clive_A

Yes, the IPv6 prefix is handed out by my ISP.

From the controller (version 5.13.23) logs one can see that the prefix is acquired correctly but dropped after a short while:

01-22-2024 12:15:08.780 INFO [manage-inform-work-group-0] [] c.t.s.o.m.d.d.m.i.o.UpdateOsgImagePortCommonInfoService(): interfaceNetwork ListableSiteComponentId(id=<REDACTED>) prefix  change to 2a02:<REDACTED>:<REDACTED>:<REDACTED>::/59.

01-22-2024 12:15:28.859 INFO [manage-inform-work-group-8] [] c.t.s.o.m.d.d.m.i.o.UpdateOsgImagePortCommonInfoService(): interfaceNetwork ListableSiteComponentId(id=<REDACTED>) prefix 2a02:<REDACTED>:<REDACTED>:<REDACTED>::/59 change to .

From the technical interface description of my ISP:

As described this works fine for about 30 seconds but then the ER605 drops the assignement.

  @Goetz

Hello,

du you use a cable modem FritzBox 6591 in Bridge Mode with Vodafone Cable Internet same me?

I have a Vodafone 1 GBit private contract with a full IPv4 address, no DSLite.

I only activate IPv4 in my ER605 v2_2.2.3 Build 20240112.

I'm not sure but i think you got only 1 IPv4 and 1 IPv6 address from Vodafone.

The IPv6 address is reserved for the FritzBox (Comfort Option / IP Phone) and you can't use with your own router.

Greetings, Thorsten

I am not sure what you are referring to. Please always add pictures for illustration. IP Statistics, so you refer to this as standalone mode? System Status > Traffic Statistics?

A team member called me regarding your issue. So this is DHCP and you are getting a fixed IP from the ISP so it has nothing to do with the prefix delegation you set in the Internet settings. That's why it does not match in two pictures you showed.

  @Clive_A So my ISP is giving me a static IPv6 address?

Not really. So when you request the IP from the ISP, it disregards that prefix delegation. If the ISP gives you /64, it will not match what you set in the prefix delegation. I mean the ISP is arbitrary in this situation.

  @Clive_A So it is a normal behavior? But how come every time I reboot, it doesn't obtain a WAN IPv6 automarically? I had to manually release and renew it to be able to obtain a WAN IPv6 from my ISP/

From the tongue of the team, it seems to be expected.

Have you tried to use /64? Every time you have to manually gain the IPv6, so after the reboot, does it get an IPv6? Or it is blank?
