Model: TL-SG1218MPE
Hardware Version: V5
Firmware Version: 1.0.0 Build 20221012 Rel.42630

We have a TP Link PoE+ switch model TL-SG1218MPE connected in our LAN network. The PoE powered devices (PD)connected to this switch are display counters of 8 numbers. At initial configuration it is found that the ping to the default IP of the switch 192.168.0.1 is taking too much delay at a maximum of 90ms sometimes and also shows a very non-uniform time delays.

We configured a management static IP to the the switch and connected in our network. 8 numbers of Display counters also connected to the switch as PoE powered devices (PD). From the beginning itself the PoE powered counter displays are getting the power supply, but sometimes the counter displays become freeze without any data coming to them. After reboot of the switch the counter displays will get data and functions properly. At the same time of the issue persists, we can get the ping to these PoE powered counter displays and but a minimum of 1 packets out of 2000 packets loss happens. Also the ping to the switch management IP also shows packet loss up to 3 packets out of 2000 packets

It is also found that the RxBadPkt in the optical fiber uplink is very higher of 54735. The screenshot of the same is attached below.

We change the uplink ports and checked then . The issue of freezing the PoE powered counter displays still happened then.

It is a daily routine to reboot the switch twice a day for the working of the PoE powered counter displays and become a burden to the staff.

Please help me out to resolve this issue? Is this any issue with current firmware version of the switch. The current firmware version is  1.0.0 Build 20221012 Rel.42630. Is the firmware version upgrade to the latest one resolves the problem?.

Appreciate your valuable suggestions to this query

Hi @ansab

Thanks for posting in our business forum.

1. Search for your model on the official website, download V5 firmware and upgrade it.

2. About the counter, this counts the traffic packets and may have an overlap count in the ping receive/loss. But what you see in the ping loss cannot equal this.

The concept may not be the same.

3. If you literally experience slowness in pinging 192.168.0.1 from port #18, consider replacing the cable, 3ft, and CAT5e or better. And use a wired PC to test this. What I am doing is to prove to you that the switch can work normally by ruling out the WIFI or cable issue.

And this count does not mean the final result in your use experience. It might match or not match what you see. If you are monitoring the whole packet's status, you can provide a screenshot and compare the stats in the Port Statistics Info. I'll check what you posted and see what I can do.
