Hi All,

Link backup issue I need help with please.

UK based. We have an ER605 running in standalone mode (no controller) with two broadband services, Starlink (WAN) & BT (WAN/LAN1). Loadbalancing is not in use, but we have employed 'Link Backup' to failover from the Primary (WAN) to Backup (WAN/LAN1) if necessary. Online detection is set as 'Auto' for both connections, and our DNS for both WAN connections is 8.8.8.8.

We recently had reason to disconnect the primary WAN and noticed that whilst failover worked just fine, that the router is not failingback to the primary WAN. We even tried a reboot and it still booted up using the backup WAN/LAN1 even though both were active. The only way we've managed to force use of the primary WAN is to manually disconnect the backup, it moves back perfectly, but as soon as we reconnect the backup WAN/LAN1 connection the router jumps back to this - even if the primary is live?

Clearly we can't leave the backup disconnected. Any ideas?

Hi @ASK1974

Thanks for posting in our business forum.

Consider the controller mode.

Note that once adopted by the controller, your config in standalone will be erased.
