Model: ER7206 (TL-ER7206)
Hardware Version: V2
Firmware Version: 2.1.2

I just got a new ER7206 v2 and have a question about the upload speed on the Ethernet WAN port. I attached the router to an OC200 controller, then updated the firmware, rebooted, and ran a speed test from a client machine directly attached to the router.

We have 1Gbps fiber internet that advertises 940Mbps up and 940Mbps down. Our prior router was able to hit max speeds for both, but the ER7206 can only hit ~500Mbps on the upload. I have not enabled bandwidth control, IDS, QoS or adjusted any traffic management settings. Is this router capable of hitting 1Gbps on its Ethernet WAN uplink? From the datasheet it seems so, but I wanted to confirm.

Thanks!

John

It turns out a reboot fixed the issue and now upload speeds match what I'd expected. Love it when that happens :)

Hi @JohnJW

Thanks for posting in our business forum.

In Controller mode, do you have any option to enable the Hardware Offload in the device settings page? Some models got it but some don't. Enable it and see if you have any improvement.

Please make sure the test device is using the wired connection to the router directly. And make sure you have the proper DNS server configured.

Both can affect the speed test results. You may also run several tests from different speed tests vendors.
