Hardware Version:
Firmware Version: 5.15.20.18

Depending on the original version you want to install, it's recommended to update Java first.

apt update
apt install java17-runtime (or java17-runtime-headless)

After that, we can install without any problems.

wget https://static.tp-link.com/upload/software/2025/202503/20250331/Omada_SDN_Controller_v5.15.20.18_linux_x64.deb

dpkg -i Omada_SDN_Controller_v5.15.20.18_linux_x64.deb

Errors detected:

- If the sites did not previously have Fast Roaming enabled, after the update, all clients at that site will connect to only one AP. Temporary fix is to create a second WLAN group and manually assign the failed APs to this group.

Hi  @Mythology89

Thanks for your sharing about updating Java.

And this is also mentioned in the release note of this firmware:

Regarding to the fast roaming issue you reported, would you please let us know the topology of your network?

How many EAP units are in the network? Did you build a mesh network?

How long after the firmware upgrade did you notice this issue? It’s possible the controller hadn’t fully re-adopted all EAPs post-upgrade—especially if mesh is involved. The system may need time to stabilize.

BTW,  Which version did you upgrade from to 5.15.20.18?
