AX73 - The total disappointment 2025

Hello team,
Before march 2025 I was using two Huawei AX3 Quad WS7200, which are working in one network in the old fashion way - wired, but using the Huawei AP mode Link+ .
I wasn't have any troubles with the coverage in Wifi or the speeds, but there isn't any firmware updates for this devices anymore and I have problem in work because of that.
And after some research and reading forums, redits or watch youtube reviews like :
1. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mz7qgqa5f28&ab_channel=landpet
or
2. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zBHBcWskHS8&ab_channel=Dad.0
I make some "upgrade" in the home network and because of that I buy two AX73 for home one easy mesh giga fast wifi and strong signal at home. But the only big is the problem with the price for both routers.
The first router is installed in the living room, there is going the internet provider cable and from there wired cat6a going to the office router.
After the installation of this two routers I'm starting to see problem with my Wifi signal, like I had never experienced before with the Huawei devices.
There isn't full coverage at 2.4 GHz... no words for the 5GHz networks. My provider delivered 1GBtps 900/1000 speeds, buuuut with the AX73 I have only 300-400 mbps wirelessly with the new AX5400 giga tera 6 antennas and new software with 3 cores and many many ram ... total junk for more money.
Please for any ideas how to fix the problem, because I think the problem is in the TP Link firmware.
PS I'm the only one user of Wifi in the building, there isn't any routers near me to make me problems with the noise of the effigy.
I'm trying this things :
1. Reset the both routers to default setting and search for firmware update.
2. Using only one router ( total disaster - extremely low signal coverage at High settings and different channels )
3. Try to connect it in the old days way from Main router Lan to the Satellite router Lan with stopped DHCP.
4. To connect it in the way like Huawei AX3 from Main Lan to Satellite WAN and configure it
5. To connect routers via One / Easy mesh ( but the Main router doesn't see the Satellite router AX73 )
The apartment is big >130 m3 and I need fast speeds wired for my work, but for my child and my wife IoTs I need fast Wifi and very good coverage, but this router isn't that what is described in the leaflets, advertisements or obviously paid videos on the internet and reviews that do not correspond to the truth.
In the Basement / Garage I have third AX73, but there isn't problem with the coverage because in under -1 and have no signal losses and is one very big clear room 70 m3.
The IoT devices in my home are the most affected and lost signals for one or two times every day.
Sincerely,
Mario

Hello,
1. After the total lack of response in the forums and through your support department via email.
2. After the total lack of professionalism in the communication and support so far
3. After more than 6 months of lack of updates and improvements for the given model
That...
We throw out the whole idea that TP-Link as a brand can be something more than a home solution for small, unpretentious users. Your idea is good, but laziness and lack of professionalism lead only to disappointment.
My advice to future users is not to take this model, because it is overpriced and does not keep your system unified, as it could be done with your lowest-budget wood, without many requirements for the product.
What the TP-Link team could not achieve was achieved simply by Huawei, accompanied by a small Firewall device to cover European standards for security protocols, as well as the peace of mind for data transfer between NAS devices, which TP-Link failed to achieve, due to their lack of updates - probably.
The TP-Link support team managed to confirm that "AX73 - The total disappointment 2025".
Have a good day and I will look for your product when some grandmother needs connectivity.

@terziyski
Thank you for assistance, I found this instructions from TP Link before ask in the TP Link forum.
The Routers are in the old possitions of the Huawei AX3 routers and I will check it in the screenshot.
The antennas are in different angles, the Main router is wall mounted behind the TV ( the antennas are above the TV without being obstructed by anything ),
the Satellite Router is in the office in the last room on the top of one little stand 2 meters above the ground and the antennas are in different angles.
The whole building is ours and I'm in the fourth floor and there have only 2 routers, above me the router is in different network and there I'm installing the old Huawei routers in complete different order so as not to interfere with the signal of the routers on the lower floor and even on Wifianalyzer they almost do not appear as a signal (which is not a problem on the fourth floor itself).
On the second floor of the building have only wired connections and there I don't want to have any WiFi.
On the first floor is the oldest router in my collection Cicso E3000, which is on a common wired network with floor 4 and is the Main router of the network 2 now.
And in the basement / garage I have installed the last AX73 router, which is getting signal from my home Main router AX73.
Summarized - the problem with WiFi network is ONLY with the "new" AX73 routers at the third floor.
There is miscalculation in the instructions, because yesterday I found the way to connect the routers in EasyMesh, but not wired. I reset AGAIN the Satellite router to factory, after that I use the physical WPS keys in the back of the routers ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cO1XjajviuQ&ab_channel=TP-LinkMalaysia ) and after that I install the wired connection. BUT now I have the poorest 2.4GHz network in the world and there is show only 2.4GHz from the Main router.
Again I don't think there is anything that I can make to improve the signal power, the most IoT devices use 2.4GHz and the 5GHz network is only for my wife and children.
One problem more - when the EasyMesh is connected the HDD installed in the Satellite router isn't show in the network and i have no access to the router from the app or laptop with direct IP (can't give permission in AP mode) to see why is this happening.
Just the signal from this router model is poor and doesn't have optimized software with many options in this price range.
The main signal comes wired from the basement :
4 optic fiber networks from the provider for four different / separated networks who do not share their speed and there isn't the problem.
So please let's focus if someone from TP Link can give an official idea on how to proceed to fix the problem.
Routers are not worth the money and if there is no solution from their side, it is easiest for me to just forget the brand and switch to Mikrotik,
but I don't want it to get to that point because I don't want my home to turn into a nice looking microwave building with UniFi ( and they looks ugly for me ). The AX73 idea was to test it and after that to update the whole building network with TP Link...
For me TP link looks little ancient and non-competitively placed one level above home use. They are easy and sufficient for use for some girl with cat or little home not bigger that 60 m3 . If the price isn't 254 euro for two AX73 everything will be within the circle of acceptable. The design is nice, despite 1001 antennas, but they are not produced in white or have smaller models with similar functionality. The antennas are clearly not well enough made despite new technologies and different placements of their angles. No matter how much you deny it, the Chinese designers have done better and are much more home-user oriented in this prices.
PS Deco systems aren't option, because of design issues and because don't have USB to add some fast removing drives for traveling purposes, where there is no access to the local NAS.

There has been an issue with the 2.4GHz signal range of AX73 v1 in the past, due to a FW update - details.
However, I can't speculate if that's the case with the AX73 v2 latest FW release.
Regarding accessing the HDD plugged into the satellite router you may check this thread.

I have access to disk but the disk isn't secured... how to change the letter or grand the security share ?! Very strange solution, that when the satellite router is installed to don't have any access... if is controled by the main router ok, but isn't
PS I try to open second Wifi for IoTs and guess the answer = )
AAANNNDDD a new problem with the remote control... what is happening with this routers...
1. Why the f... reconnect me every time to http://tplinkwifi.net/ and show me to download the app and massage :
Trying to configure the Router?
It looks like you aren't connected to your TP-Link network.
To access tplinkwifi.net, your device must be connected to TP-Link Router’s network. Please check your network connection and try again.
and need to reconnect again to the IP...

Hello.
Thank for assist but still not useful..
The both of links that you are provide to me are completely useless, because of two parts :
1. The last comments in the redirecting page is very good -
RE:An option to disable redirecting to the tplinkwifi.net URL

RE:An option to disable redirecting to the tplinkwifi.net URL
Hey Tp-Link, ignoring your glitches is a good way to start going out of business.
2. AX73 have only guest network in the menu, and there isn't IoT network to open for the wifi menus. No firmware updates, no option to add IoT in Security like AX23 for example or different...
The problems are still the same, low quality network and leave me with no options to configure the mesh or something else.
The only difference is that I was able to connect the devices in MESH, but not with your assistance - I use this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cO1XjajviuQ&t=3s&ab_channel=TP-LinkMalaysia ... and after the Wifi MESH is added I install the cable.
You will ask - What is changes in the network coverage?! Now I have 2 routers and have no access to the second and the second USB isnt show in the network... and the WIFI chanels of the both routers work in the same chanell and now I make noise intertwining alone to my self! Genius...
Please give me ideas what to do to fix it or just to throw the AX routers somewhere and buy Mircotik or Huawei Wifi BE3 Pro, because they worked. We buy for my brothers house for every floor one Huawei router and there isn't any issues. The model isn't with 12309 andenas, have no USB, BUT WORKS...
Please give me official TPLink Answer why the... this "cheap" devices isn't working normally.
I can upload maaany measurements with tablets, phones and laptops for the Wifi map of the building, but I think there isn't need to we expose ourselves with unprofessional answers.
Sincerely

@terziyski - Just Update from the support mails
Hello Team TP-Link Bulgaria,
I apologize for my harsh language and I apologize if I hurt anyone, but I expected to get a professional answer, not a touristic tour.
I will try to narrow down the problem as little and clearly as possible so that we can speak the same language.
The building is completely new construction and does not even have full furniture in the apartments, and the overall design of the remaining furniture and appliances is still being designed.
The building has 4 floors with an underground hall, which has garages and basements. All LAN cables are cat6a.
The replacement with your devices was done to meet the new requirements of the companies we work with and regarding security protocols.
Multiple routers are required for three main reasons:
1. Avoiding network interlacing and VLANs positioned on a single device
2. The design must meet the ultimate design requirements and modern-looking offices and residential premises, avoiding Unifi satellite dishes and other mesh Coca-Cola cans
3. Good coverage with prosperity for future software updates
As for now, TP Link only responds to points 1 and 2, with point 3 you have extremely large gaps in network coverage and strength, simultaneous security upgrades of devices, and differences in the functionality of your various types of equipment from the same product series.
Let me explain.
Until January 2025, the building was powered by Huawei AX3 Quad WS7200 Wifi6 devices, but due to the global situation and the technical obsolescence of the model, a replacement was necessary.
The floor network core plans was as follows :
Optics from the internet providers to Fortinet Fg-80f
ALL Huawei AX3 Quad core WS7200 are in
Basements > Fourth Router 10.10.10.7 DNS Server 10.10.10.6
Floor 0 > 16 port offices Switch 10.10.10.3
Floor 1 > Fifth Router 10.10.10.5 NAS 10.10.10.4
Floor 2 > Third Router 10.10.10.8
Floor 3 > Main Router 10.10.10.10 and Second Router 10.10.10.9
Floor 4 > 48 port video switch 10.10.10.2 and DVR 10.10.10.1
AND THE WHOLE BUILDING HAVE GOOD COVERAGE AND SPEED, whit little drops in the toilets on Fl.0 and on the ROOF (Fl.5)
NOW THE SITUATION IN THE BUILDING IS :
Optics from the internet providers to Fortinet Fg-80f
ALL TP link Routers are in
Basements > Third Router AX73 12.7.0.97 (because the second router have no option to change the IP and is what he take from DHCP) DNS Server 12.7.0.24
Floor 0 > 16 port offices Switch 10.10.10.4 Third office router AX1800 10.10.10.7
Floor 1 > Second Office Router AX53 10.10.10.2 NAS 10.10.10.3
Floor 2 > Main Office Router AX53 10.10.10.1
Floor 3 > Main Home Router AX73 12.7.0.25 and Second Router AX73 12.7.0.94 (because the second router have no option to change the IP and is what he take from DHCP)
Floor 4 > 48 port POE video switch 10.10.10.5 and DVR 10.10.10.6
The position of the router devices isn't changing but the signal is dropped down even when setting - High signal.
The main problems after replacement are :
1. Poor wireless signal coverage
2. Intertwining the networks, in such a way that at times devices under the main router still find the historical router to have a better signal.
3. Simultaneous operation on the same network channel, as after the devices are linked, through your satellite device system, there is no option to change the channel on the secondary devices
4. Total lack of control over secondary devices, except for displaying the automatically captured IP, MAC address and cable connection speed
5. Extremely huge discrepancy in the extras of your different models, taking into account the models AX73, AX53 and AX1800 .
- For AX73 (the bigger model and the flagship of the series) - in you app and in the web control menu there isn't option for
a> Showing the using speeds in the moment for download and upload
b> No menu for IoT networks and IoT security and No Eco option
c> The devices with slower processors and low memory and low quality are working faster and have better coverage
6. The only one USB storage that appears on the home network is located on the main router, and as always without the option to choose an extension of Letter for the HDD storage.
7. There isn't any option to remove tplinkwifi.net reconnection... is extremely frustrating when you use more devices.
From 2025-May-08 have no answers for any of my requests from your forum or from your mail support - I find the solution in Youtube and reddit, but not from the SUPPORT of the company.
The devices are bought from Bulgaria from TechMart, Reset and Plesio. All devices are from the same product year manufactured and "same series"
All routers are in a position that is not obscured by any equipment, curtains, metal doors, or under a refrigerator, if you wish to specify.
Their antennas are fully exposed, visible, and have been rotated to all sorts of working angle options, currently left in their "best" option.
The first Main home router and Main Office router are wall mounted. The second routers are on a bookshelf at a height of 1.7 meters.

Subject: AX73 - The total disappointment 2025
As you can see, the problem is not in the lack of understanding of networks or in the money for the devices. But they should be home-oriented so that each of the residents or workers can restart them if necessary and with minimal possibility of something going wrong. As for now, the only thing that is confusing is the strength of the wireless connection and the software discrepancies, as well as the lack of control over the satellite devices.
