Hi TP-Link Community,

I'm trying to configure my ER8411 v1.0 router to work with my ISP, Swisscom (Switzerland). They require specific DHCP options on the WAN interface:

  • VLAN ID 10 (This I was able to configure)
  • DHCP Option 60 (Vendor Class Identifier) with the value 100008,0001

I have updated all my Omada components to the latest versions:

  • Router Model: TP-Link ER8411 v1.0
  • Router Firmware: 1.3.0 Build 20250407 Rel.80897
  • Controller Type: OC200
  • Controller Hardware Firmware: 1.35.5 Build 20250326 Rel.41966
  • Omada SDN Software Version: 5.15.20.38

I was hopeful after seeing the release notes for the ER8411 firmware 1.3.0, which state: "7. Add support to FQDN/Wildcards WAN DHCP Option."

However, when I go to Settings > Internet > WAN Port > Edit, and set the Connection Type to "Dynamic IP", I can configure VLAN ID 10, but I cannot find any fields to enter custom DHCP options, specifically DHCP Option 60. I've looked under "Advanced Settings" as well.

Could someone please guide me on where to find the settings for WAN DHCP Option 60 in the Omada Controller 5.15.20.38 with the ER8411 running firmware 1.3.0? Is the new "FQDN/Wildcards WAN DHCP Option" feature applicable for setting a numerical option like 60 with a specific string value, and if so, what is the correct syntax or method?

Any help or clarification would be greatly appreciated, as this is currently preventing me from using the ER8411 with my ISP.

I'm not an expert here, I believe Clive_A will provide you better answer but as far as I know the Option 60 on WAN is under development.

The whole discussion on thata was already made here:

The new feature has to be supported by both, controller and router.

As I saw in Release notes of hardware controller V5.15.20.31 this option being implemented.

But I haven't seen that on router's fw update release notes yet :(

Thanks for posting in our business forum.

1. This is not supported yet in the controller. I don't have a timeline. If it is marked as scheduled, it means the dev's aware and will add in a version released in a small version of that major version.

Standalone can configure the DHCP option now.

2. That quoted part, new feature, is not the same concept.

This option is not available in the controller. To use that feature in controller mode, you should wait for a controller adaptation.

Thanks for answering my question. Would it work if I switch away from controller to software controller? If I interpret the realese notes from version v5.15.24 correctly, there could be a chance to get this solved. I have a linux server running and could set up a VM for that.

I am not responsible for the Controller releases.

If you see the feature is available in the controller release note, then it means the feature can be used in the controller mode. If you don't, you gotta wait.
