Model: ER605 (TL-R605)
Hardware Version: V2
Firmware Version: 2.1.2 Build 20230210 Rel. 62992

Hello all,

I have an ER605 Omada Gigabit Multi-WAN VPN Router. On my WAN Interface I have a local carrier (Telmex). On my WAN/LAN1 Interface I have Starlink.

I have now moved my Starlink service to be only a backup with a plan of maximum 10GB per month. Any additional data consumed by Starlink would be invoiced at an additional cost, which I want to avoid.

Within the load balancing section I have Load Balancing Enabled, and I placed a rule which is “Backup when any primary WAN fails”. The primary is WAN which is Telmex, and the Backup is WAN/LAN1 which is Starlink. The traffic status indeed shows low utilization on the Starlink, and high on Telmex, which is what I expected. Is there any way to place a limit on the Starlink (WAN/LAN1) so that it will never use more than 10GB of data per month? I went to the section Bandwidth Control under Transmission, but if I add a rule it seems to be only for the speed allowed to be used, not for the data consumed per month. I am using Firmware 2.1.2 Build 20230210 Rel. 62992 with Hardware Version ER605 V2.0

Thanks a lot,

Ruben.

If you want to have such a control, it should be on the Starlik router. It's a bit of the same problem as with 4G routers, but this control is on the 4G router itself.

  @RubenRuiz

You might look into the option on your modem to limit the data once it reaches the threshold.

  @MR.S

The problem is that Starlink doesn't have any option to limit the data at all. I just checked it, and it provides very few and poor options.
