Hello,

I was configuring my VIGI cameras and NVR, and saw similar event detection types... Does the camera really makes the difference between these?

  • Video Tampering vs. Motion detection
  • Intrusion detection vs. Loitering detection vs. Human detection
  • Motion detection vs. Scene Change Detection

I did some tests and it seems the line between these detection types is not clear...

Have you tried on your end? Does your camera make the difference between simple motion and hiding the field of view? Does it make the difference when a person comes by, and when someone loiters? Scene Change Detection seems to trigger the event when your turn the camera to the other side, while motion detection will trigger the event with any object in motion in the field of view (according to sensitivity selected).

If I enable human and vehicle detections, these should encompass: Video tampering (only possible by a human being), intrusion detection (human beings), loitering detection (only human beings, I suppose), and scene change detection (only possible by a human being), correct?

I wonder if these similar detection types are more distinct to you (they seem to overlap, for some of them).

Thank you! 🙂

  @calande

You can refer to the User Guide, which explains where and in what contexts they are used. It is not only about the name, but also when you do a review, the different types would make sense after the event happens. It's about the classification and sorting.

Yes, I admit that there are marginal differences in their definition. But this means something for other people. To you, they seem to be the same concept, all belong to the Motion Detection but it is a matter of inclusion and exclusion.

This is the direction in exploring this question. There is no definitive understanding of this if you think they are all motion detection events.
