Model: OC200
Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version: 1.2.7 Build 20220804 Rel.69283

Hi,

I have a site with 13 EAP245 V3 APs and OC200 V1 controller

Current firmware

OC200 v1 controller (1.2.7 Build 20220804 Rel.69283)

EAP245 v3 (2.4.0 Build 20200117 Rel. 39932)

I would like to to upgrade OC200 to the highest (newest) version, update all APs and then migrate to SW controller version.

OC200 is offering new firmware 1.29.4 Build 20240304 Rel.54326 (Built-in Omada SDN Controller 5.13.30.20)

Is it safe to do this upgrade?

1.2.7 Build 20220804 Rel.69283

-->

1.29.4 Build 20240304 Rel.54326

I assume that after upgrading I can proceed with upgrading AP firmware and migration to SW controller?

What would be the correct procedure to upgrade OC200, update APs & migrate to software version controller

BR, Markku

Hi  @mmaenpaa

The controller you are using is too old, currently is 5.15.x, you are using 1.2.7

Please update it to the latest and see if the issue persists.

Since your current version is too old and involves multiple version jumps, we recommend upgrading step-by-step through the following version:

1. 1.2.7 >>> 1.7.4

2. 1.7.4 >>> 1.9.3

3. 1.9.3 >>>1.14.3

4. 1.14.3 >>> 1.36.7

Note:

To prevent configuration loss, ensure you export the controller's config file from the old version before each upgrade.

’After upgrading to the new version, import the old config file into the new system.

You can update the EAP via the controller interface. The recommended steps are:

1. 2.4.0 >>> 2.21.0;

2. 2.21.0 >>> 5.0.0;

3. 5.0.0 >>> 5.2.0

Any issue occured when updating, don't hesitate to let us know.

After the firmware update, you will be able to migrate the OC200 to the software controller:

  @Vincent-TP

Than you very much !

Process went smoothly as described.

Only at the first FW upgrade to OC200 (1. 1.2.7 >>> 1.7.4) restoring backup was needed.

Now next step is migration to SW version.
