Model: OC300
Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version: 5.15.24.21

Hi everyone,

I've noticed that both the OC200 and OC300 controllers are showing repeated messages indicating that some features will be removed or changed starting with Omada Controller v6.

At the same time, I’ve seen that some beta and early access firmware versions for APs (EAP6**) and switches are already marked as tested with or prepared for Omada v6.

However, I haven’t seen anything of Omada Controller v6 itself yet — not even a beta or early access version.

This raises a few questions for me:

  • When can we realistically expect the release of Omada Controller v6?
  • Is there a roadmap or any official information about the planned changes or new features in v6?
  • And most importantly: Why are there already device firmwares available for a controller version that hasn’t even been released yet?

It's a bit confusing when the devices seem to be one step ahead, while the central software platform isn't available yet.

Maybe someone here has more insight or TP-Link can comment on this.

Best regards,

Tim

Hi  @AmanSaroha

I've been eagerly waiting too, but something unexpected happened and the release has been delayed. Unfortunately, there won't be a release this week.

The forum team arent allowed to discuss any roadmap, upcoming features, or release dates any more.  Who knows why

However, i think this approach of adapted firmwares BEFORE a controller release is much better - previously we had the controller release nad almost no adapted device firmwares so completely unable to test the new features.  At least this way, when the controller is released, we can actually test stuff.  ER7206 v2 just got v6 adapted firmware too

Main: ER8411 x1, SG3428X x1, SG3452 x1, SG2428LP x1, SG3210 x1, SG2218P x1, SG2008P x3, ES208G x1, EAP650 x6 Remote: ER7206 v2 x1, ER605 v2 x3, SG2008P x2, EAP650 x2, ES205G x1 Controller: OC300

Hi  @TW_EPC

The Omada Controller V6 is on the way. I believe the pre-released version will be released no later than next week---this is not ganranteed.cool

And most importantly: Why are there already device firmwares available for a controller version that hasn’t even been released yet?

>>> Our company offers a wide range of products, with different models being developed and maintained by separate teams. As a result, development progress varies across products. It's only natural that those completed earlier are released first, while others follow in due course.

>>>Because we genuinely don't have this information. Even if we do obtain some details, we still can't guarantee they'll be implemented exactly as planned.. crying

Its on the controller firmware update page only.  You have to go through 2 version - 2.2.2 then 2.2.3 after

Main: ER8411 x1, SG3428X x1, SG3452 x1, SG2428LP x1, SG3210 x1, SG2218P x1, SG2008P x3, ES208G x1, EAP650 x6 Remote: ER7206 v2 x1, ER605 v2 x3, SG2008P x2, EAP650 x2, ES205G x1 Controller: OC300

I posted a new post about this before I saw this thread... I'd like to know more what the new "VI" means in the short and weird changelog.

VI= 6, just the roman numerals for the new controller version

Bruh... I'm  such a dumb a$$!!  I was thinking something similiar to UI or GUI, maybe VI was something in that ball park!

Thanks bro for clearing that up!
