Model: EAP225
Hardware Version: V5
Firmware Version: 1.0.92

Good day. We have encountered a problem where clients cannot connect to a wireless network on a TP-Link EAP 25 access point. Clients see wireless networks, but cannot connect with the message "Unable to connect to the network". There are no failures on the controller on the AP, the radio interfaces are working. Only changing the channel or rebooting the access point helps. The channels are not loaded. Has anyone encountered such a problem?

Hi  @Gidro76

Thanks for posting here.

Changing wireless settings (channel) will also restart the WiFi. To better understand the situation, please give us more details:

1. Did the EAP work well before? When did you first notice this situation?

2. Did this happen on all wireless clients, or all of your wireless clients?

3. Is the network of the main router working?

4. What is the firmware version of the EAP you are using? Please send a screenshot of the controller's device page.

5. What type of controller are you using, and what's the firmware version?

In the meantime, please test the following and see if it helps:

Unplug the EAP and connect a PC to the router using the same Ethernet cable. Next, verify the IP information on the PC to ensure it can access the internet.
Reset the EAP: with the EAP powered on, use a pin to press and hold the reset hole for about 8 seconds until the LED flashes green-red-yellow to factory default settings.

  @Vincent-TP

1. The problem has been noticed for a long time. It is not constant and does not often appear. We learn about the problem from users

2. We have access points added to different Sites, and the problem occurs on different sites. That is, on one Site for all clients

3. We do not use routers from the TP-Link vendor. All other equipment operates in normal mode

4. We use firmware version 1.0.92 from the developers for detailed logging.

5. We use software controller version 5.15.20.20

Access points are connected to TP-Link SG2210P and powertone switches

Hi  @Gidro76

Thanks for the reply.

Are all the EAP units the same model and hardware EAP225 V5?

Could you let me know how often the situation will happen? That is, after you reboot the APs, how long will it take for the issue to reoccur?

And when it occurs, will all the wireless clients can't connect at the same time? Or there are still some clients connecting to the network?

3. We do not use routers from the TP-Link vendor. All other equipment operates in normal mode

>>>Does this mean, only the EAP wireless clients are affected?

There is a newer version of Omada software 5.15.24, you may update to have a try:

  @Vincent-TP

Yes, all APs are the same model and hardware.

It's not that the problem occurs often. It occurs on different APs.

What do you mean by all clients? All clients that connect to one AP or all clients on all APs?
We have a problem where clients cannot connect to one AP.

The problem only affects wireless EAP clients.

Hi  @Gidro76

All clients that connect to one AP or all clients on all APs?

>>>I mean all clients on all EAPs.

We have a problem where clients cannot connect to one AP.

>>>Does this mean, this only affect on certain EAP unit?

I would like to know if all EAP units are affected, or only specific ones. This help us to know if this is a hardware defect on certain EAP.

  @Vincent-TP

This happens randomly on different access points. There is no pattern. The problem does not appear on several specific access points and there is no periodicity when the problem appears.

Hi  @Gidro76

So the issue occurs randomly without discernible patterns, is that correct?

Please help verify the following:

  1. Does the problem consistently require restarting the EAP or modifying WiFi settings to resolve, or are there cases of automatic recovery?
  2. What common characteristics (brand/type) do the affected clients share?
  3. Do all affected clients exhibit identical symptoms during occurrences? show “Unable to connect to the network”
  4. Is only a single client affected each time, or are multiple clients impacted simultaneously?

Yes, the problem occurs randomly without a clear pattern.

To solve the problem, you always need to either reboot the access point or turn off and on the radio interfaces or change channels (the channels are not loaded).

All clients behave the same, regardless of brand and model, they all have the same error.
