VLAN DHCP fails for Linux based servers

VLAN DHCP fails for Linux based servers

VLAN DHCP fails for Linux based servers
VLAN DHCP fails for Linux based servers
Saturday
Model: ER605 (TL-R605)
Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version: 1.3

After upgrading to ER7412-M2 I decided to repurpose this gateway and initially ran it in standalone with the management VLAN 1 at  default 192.167.0.1 and a VLAN 10 at 10.10.10.1. With a separate PVID.

i spun up two instances of Proxmox on each VLAN and DHCP and routing working fine. I then switched to using the software Omada controller in an LXC container install - the latest version on the management VLAN. Gateway ER605 was found immediately and I adopted it.
i configured the VLAN 10 the same as in the standalone however DHCP failed for the Proxmox server on the same WAN/LAN port.
I tried a Windows laptop in the same port and no problem it was able to negotiate a DHCP connection.

i am at a loss as to why the Linux servers were unable to negotiate a DHCP connection.

I've run the same gateway for a few  years with an OC200 controller and two SG2008P switches with several VLANs and Linux servers and also Proxmox without any issues whatsoever.
Any ideas?

make sure that you have enabled vlan on the interface that goes to the switch

yes I have done that. As I had explained. I had VLAN 10 passing out leases to the Linux box in standalone. And I have no other switches attached.

Wireshark results. Or tcp dump.

I am curious if you face a problem like this one I discussed with the other user before. That was a problem with the LINUX ARP.

Or it could still be a problem with your VLAN or PVID problem. A minor mistake may be made in the config phase. Recommend either you double-check with the guideline or provide the community with screenshots for a review or check.

After reading through the thread in the link you posted, it does look like exactly the same problem. So, really the only work-around I know is to add a SG2008P switch.

As I explained previously, that's what I had in the original network until I upgraded gateways and it worked.

There is no new firmware for this model yet. I am not sure if this behavior is persistent in others.

You can keep it for a while before the next adaptation firmware is released.

Or consider a different model which has been updated with V5.15 firmware.

And the dev mentioned that it was expected behavior. Yet, I am not seeing people reporting this with the ER605 V2 or other models yet. This one is ER7412-M2, I am curious if you have the same Wireshark result like the post I had.

The forum team does not have information regarding the firmware schedule or development progress. If there is a new Early Access or Beta, I will post it on the forum actively. If there is no firmware, I am not able to provide or answer anything about it.

as I said above,  after replacing the ER605 V1 with the ER7412-M2 that upgrade went well with the existing equipment and switches.

I might just try a ER605 V2 for this new build out and scrap the V1. It's sad to do that, to a 5 year old piece of equipment these days. It has served us well. But after reading some of the nuances of the V1 in other forums it might be just as well.
