Good morning,

I have been struggling for a few days now to get some devices to be adopted on the software controller. I have a PC running the controller, version 5.15.24.18. I have an ER605 v2, 5 APs, and a couple POE switches. Any time I try to adopt a device, it gives me the "does not respond to adopt commands" error.

Things I have tried so far:

-Reset all devices to factory

-Log in to all devices and set inform URL to my PC

-Adopt device via Omada IOS app (scanning code and by selecting them from the list)

-Created a docker container using mbentley's image to run the controller

-Created a fresh site

-Changed IP of controller software to 192.168.68.0/24, then changed router to match

-Turned off Windows Defender to make sure it's not blocking any of the traffic coming through

-Created a new VLAN and put both devices on that (although I really have no clue what i'm doing here)

So far the only device that was successfully adopted was the switch. It was almost immediate. Everything else fails. I put the correct username and password for each device and it continues to fail. I read somewhere that the error is due to the devices not being able to talk to each other, possibly due to port configuration. I might agree, but with the switch having no issues it makes me think it's something else.

I really want this to work but I feel like I'm in over my head. I don't really know what I'm doing and it's starting to become obvious. I'm very close to just throwing in the towel and getting a simple mesh setup for the house, but I already have all of the equipment and I don't want to have to start over.

Please help!

Thank you for your post. Based on your description, the most likely cause is that your PC’s firewall or antivirus software is blocking the connection—please double-check those settings. Also, take a look at this article for further troubleshooting steps. What should I do when the Omada Software Controller fails to discover the devices?
