Firmware Version: 5.15.6.7

Hello together,

today I wanted to create a new VLAN for IoT devices.
Therefore I created a standard LAN configuration with VLAN 90 and DHCP Server. (I left all checkboxes on default to just get it up running for tests).

Then I created the WLAN also fairly standard with only 2.4Ghz and linked it to my IoT LAN.

However the result is that no device can connect the WLAN. I've checked with two phones and they are always "Connecting" or trying to get an IP address.

The part I don't understand is, that if I connect a Laptop with a patch cable to a switch port and apply the IoT profile there, I immediately get an IP address in the configured range from the IoT LAN, so DHCP seems to work.

If I take an already existing WLAN and assign it the IoT VLAN ID, I can't connect.

There must be something wrong in my configuration that I can't get WLAN working with that specific (or any other newly created) LAN.

P.s. I've also checked the switch port profile of the AP and it is set to (all).

Any idea would be well appreciated.

Thank you for your post.
May I know the exact model of your EAP and whether it is running the latest firmware?
Also, have you assigned a VLAN ID to the WLAN group in question?

Hello and thank you for your response.
I am running three EAP653 v1.0 on Firmware 1.1.0

Yes, I have assigned a VLAN ID to the WLAN group.
If I choose ID90 of the IoT LAN it does not work.
If I take ID40 of an already running LAN, it does work.

Somehow no WLAN seems to work with the IoT LAN but using a wired connection to the IoT  LAN works.

VLAN ID 90 is not working while VLAN ID 40 is; this kind of issue is almost always configuration-related. The upstream switch is not forwarding VLAN 90 traffic correctly to the AP. The port that the AP connects to should have its switch profile set to “ALL”. Please provide your exact network topology and the LAN/VLAN configuration from the router so we can check. Also, does the SSID that carries VLAN 90 appear in your Wi-Fi list?

Do you have any Switch or EAP ACL rules that you may have inadvertadently block IoT to itself or its Gateway IP on the router ?

As long as vlan 90 is trunked (as in tagged) all the way down from router, switch to EAP it should work

Things to check -

When you made the IOT vlan, did you include the gateway port that actually goes to your switch ?

Are your switch uplink / downlink profiles using anything other than All, and if not using All, is vlan 90 incliuded in them ?
