Hi Guys,

I just had the task to change the gateway. As the only description, I could find here was quite old, I want to summarize, that you might have it easier.

I did that with an OC220 and a ER707-M2, former Gateway ER605. It might work with all of them, but follow my instruction only on your own risk :-)

1. The GW is delivered with the IP address 192.168.0.1; if this is not the IP address of your old GW, connect your PC directly to the new GW and assign the address of the old one. Doing so, you will be asked to set a username and password. As these credentials are temporary only, keep it simple.

2. Assign your PC a fixed IP address in the controller´s network and login to it using the controller´s IP address

3. Forget the old GW and disconnect it

4. Connect the new GW to the network and adopt it. If you assigned user and password in step 1, this will fail. But no worries: just repeat adopting; this time you will be asked for username and password.

5. A migration wizard appears (very neat) and you should activate "WAN Settings Overrides". In the next step you can assign the equivalents of the ports (e.g. WAN was on Port 1 on the former GW and is now on Port 2).

6. Gateway will reboot and then you are done! I´ve hat set up a couple of DHCP reservations: all of them were still there and even the WAN config worked directly. Very cool.

7. As exchanging a gateway often means trouble for the entire network, take the chance to look for a firmware update, download an install it manually.

In my case, the firmware update brought the functionality, I´ve done this all for: LAN DNS (https://www.tp-link.com/de/support/faq/4504/)

Have fun!
