Cannot adopt a new EAP225 onto an existing Network
Cannot adopt a new EAP225 onto an existing Network
I have a network with five EAP225s that I set up a few years back. Hardware version 3.0 for the old ones, 2.5.0 Build 20190404 Rel. 57144.
That all works fine and was easy to set up back in 2019 or so.
I just bought new pair of EAP225s and although I can connect to them via a browser, they simply refuse to to be adopted by the OC200. Either via my Android app or bringing up te OC200's web page.
I've tried this:
https://community.tp-link.com/en/business/forum/topic/168100
And the link it points to and loads of others. I just keep getting "Failed to Send Adoppt Command to AP".
If I retry I have to enter the username and password (which I set vuia the EAP's web page) and then it tells me the same thing.
I can ping, obviously, the EAP and Ias I say I can connect to it just putting its IP address into a browser. The OC200 app on my phone and the web interface *sees* it but flatly refuses to connect.
They are all on 192.168.5.xxx OC200 firmware is up to date.
What is going on here please?

@NeilR_M After a good working day on this I've finally got it all going,
Once the software in the OC200 was updated I then needed to do the same in all the EAPs, which was quite the palava. Everything is VERY buggy, very slow to update and the new OC200 web software is a real dog and the UI is just horribly hard to navigate. The older one was WAY nicer.
However all seven APs are now working. Many thanks.

@DiBosco Can you ping from another device managed on the controller to the new EAPs (using the Network Tools on the controller)? Also, is it possible to factory reset the EAP and try again?

I have tried a factory reset (if you mean holding down the reset but on the EAP untilk the green LED flashes). Have done this twice. That does not help.

I don't know what you're asking here. What controller?The OC200?
If I look here:
https://www.tp-link.com/uk/support/faq/4037/
It talks about tools and logging in via a web browser, but when I do that it looks *nothing* like on that web page. My OC200 according to my Android app is V3.2.1 and that article talks about v 5.9 and above. My OC200 is way older than what that web page talks about I think.

@NeilR_M Are you SURE this is not a compatibility issue? Please remember this OC200 is several years old and theese two new EAP225s are brand new.

@DiBosco Based on the version of the OC200 provided, it very well may be. I'm checking for a hard list of devices compatible with the older software versions of the Omada Controller. In the meantime, is it possible to manually upgrade the firmware of your OC200? You should be able to find the list here, which may include things that aren't caught via the auto-update.

@NeilR_M The OC200 is updated, that was one of the first things I tried.
I hope it's not the case that newer versions won't play with the older verison, that would be really disappointing.

@NeilR_M Actually, the controller software wasn't up to date. It's very confusing hos it reports. I found another post when a DuckDuckGo search on comnpatibility with V1 hardware and newer APs showed someone with the same issue as mine. Eventually worked out how to update the firmware and the web interface now looks like what is on decumentation.
Now it won't see any APs so I am totally without wifi. Uch.

@DiBosco For troubleshooting, can you send a screenshot of the OC200's Controller Version number? Just so I can try and recreate with devices here in the office.

@DiBosco Glad to hear you got it working! One last thing, if you need help finding any features, check this article out, it should help out quite a bit.

Hi @DiBosco
What's the current firmware version of the OC200?
We have optimized the interface lag issue, and the latest version should no longer have this problem.
