Hardware Version: V2
Firmware Version: 2.3.3 Build 20251029 Rel.18054

Updated:

I found that if I mirror to a 10Mbps port, my entire WAN slows down to 10Mbps.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Hello,

I am using an ER605 with two WAN connections. I am facing a persistent issue where:

  • Download speed is limited to around 10 Mbps,

  • Upload speed works normally,

  • The problem only appears when using two WAN interfaces.

If I enable Failover Timing and then disable it again, the download speed returns to normal temporarily.
However, after some time, the issue comes back and the download speed cannot exceed 10 Mbps again.

I restored the backup one and it worked fine again.

Additional notes:

  • Upload speed is never affected.

  • Download speed is capped at ~10 Mbps until I toggle Failover Timing.

  • The issue keeps repeating after some time.

  • No QoS or bandwidth limit is configured.

  • Load Balance enabled.

  • Speed of internet 100mbps (tested using other router).

  • Policy route enable for domain, ip group.

  •

It seems like the router has a problem with Dual-WAN routing, load balancing behavior, or some internal failover mechanism that causes download throughput to drop.

Could you please help identify the cause or provide a workaround to prevent download speed from being stuck at 10 Mbps?

Thank you!

Thank you for your post. When you say that restoring the backup file makes everything work again, do you mean that rolling back to the previous firmware version eliminates the issue? Also, could you elaborate on what you discovered regarding mirroring a port to 10 Mbps—specifically, how that causes the entire WAN to drop to 10 Mbps? Also, your title claims “upload speed capped at 10 Mbps, download speed normal,” but the body of your post says the opposite. Which statement is accurate?

Hi,

Let me clarify: are you saying that rolling back to the previous firmware version resolves the issue? I have a backup file configured with the mirror port connected to an active NAS (1Gbps), and with this setup my internet speed works fine.

Regarding the discovery about mirroring a port to 10 Mbps and causing the entire WAN to drop to 10 Mbps, I found this while trying to monitor my VoWiFi packets. When I shut down my PC running Wireshark, the network slowed to 10 Mbps. After changing the mirrored port to another active port (my NAS), the WAN speed returned to full. My PC’s NIC is set to 10 Mbps for WOL.

Also, your title says “upload speed capped at 10 Mbps, download speed normal,” but the body of your post says the opposite. To clarify, the body means my maximum speed is 100 Mbps.

  @LeTuan

So, according to your latest statement, when port-mirroring is set to 10 Mbps, the entire WAN link falls back to 10 Mbps. Does this happen on one WAN only, or on both WANs? Have you actually tested this? Also, which WAN did you mirror—have you verified that the speed drop occurs no matter which WAN is chosen for mirroring?
